Bats Shot
In this scene, a police team is searching for Talon who escaped into a cave. In this shot, a police officer finds a hole and looks into it. Suddenly, a herd of many bats bursts out, flying out of the hole and startling him. Some of the bats fly past the camera, and the other fly up and leave the spot. I shot green screen footage of a bat toy while I directed my coworkers to flap the wings in certain ways so that I can composite them. I keyed the green screen footage, animated the positions of the bats and composited them with the cave footage and added bats’ shadows. I made some of them in 3D layers so that they look like they are coming at the camera and passing by right next to it. I shot many different angles so that I could make the bats fly to many different directions while facing those directions.
